Work continues after water main break on Main St. in Melfort

Jan 3, 2019 | 8:30 AM

City of Melfort crews are back at work following a pair of water main breaks prior to Christmas.

The 700 block of Main St. experienced a water main break on Dec. 23. causing crews to shut off water for a number of days. Water was restored to residents and businesses on the block by Boxing Day and were placed under a precautionary drinking water advisory (PDWA).

Director of Works and Utilities, Gerald Gilmore, told northeastNOW on Jan. 3. that crews are digging another leak on the same block on Main St. and he expects them to be on site for most of the day. The road will be closed while work is underway.

The block remains under a PDWA.

A break on the 100 block of Higgins Ave. E. on Dec. 23. has been repaired with water fully restored. Higgins remains on a PDWA as well.
